Viewed more than 100,000 times on YouTube alone, Curatins Up is a rare insight into David Lynch behind the lens, teaching us about his theory of film as well as his lifelong pursuit to bring Meditation to anyone in the world who wants it.
The film premiered at Galeries des Galeries as part of Stella McCartney’s Sanctuary of Stillness - a meditation based experience in Paris. It then debuted worldwide online via NOWNESS and screened at both the Festival of Disruption New York 2018 and Los Angeles 2018.

Temple 10
2019
Pigment Print
80 x 54 inches
A celebratory blitz of intricately assembled images - collected, cut and constructed into a precarious and precise landscape.
Composed of thousands of layers with sourced visual references from across the Internet, including a compendium of obscure B-movie posters, as well as the online archives from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Getty Open Content Program.
Using formal strategies of quotation, repetition and hybridization, I create a meticulous visual tapestry that’s provocatively psychological, immersive and explorative.

U.S. Plant Collection Palette
2013
Pigment Print
99 x 159 inches
The nucleus of this show is a list of common names of plants that grow in the United States and its territories, initially chosen based solely off of the attraction to the names themselves.
This body of work toys with the history of the still life genre in its acknowledgment of our innate desire to organize and control nature on a symbolic level.
These dense composites of images re-imagine Nature Morte as a vibrantly lush and kinetic force in which the organization and obsessive relationship to these plants developed as Simmons culled and cut the images from their original, digital source material.

Aqls (Beta)
2020
Developed under tech accelerator OS Labs (opensourcelabs.io).
Aqls is a GraphQL analytics toolkit and dashboard that uses custom React hooks and express plugins to enable developers using Apollo client and Apollo server to generate subscription analytics: including frequency of resolver use, roundtrip latency, and dropped/unresolved subscriptions. This is accomplished by installing two lightweight modules - one on the client and one on the server - to generate and save analytics in a few easy steps.
Aqls custom hooks preserve all native Apollo functionality, enabling async chaining upon mutation updates. Aqls server plugins seamlessly integrate analytics functionality into mutation resolvers and instantiate an app-specific “Traql” that collates subscription responses, generates errors, and efficiently stores analytics in the aqls.io database.

Programmatic Everything
2021
JavaScript / ExtendScript / Photoshop
A series of scripts that (seek to) generate the most dense abstract collages ever created, while remaining visually balanced.
The algorithm first shuffles an image set using Fisher-Yates then runs through the first half (in this case, about 2,200). Then for each image, between 4 and 20 versions of it are pasted in, where the location, rotation, scale, and opacity are randomized. The script optimizes to merge and purge every 25 layers to save on virtual memory. The below finished image resulted in 25,074 layers.
Onward.
